ABOUT THE HOUSE AND THE ANCIENT OLIVE MILL
This rural house with a total area of approximately 300 sqm, was originally built by our family at the turn of the 20th century, in 1902, at the foot of a beautiful and charismatic medieval (14th century) village, Pigna. The house is equipped with an old olive oil mill, which was the main family business during and after WW2.
The building's frame construct is made of solid thick stone walls and built on three levels. One of the facades faces the river on all three floors, while the other faces the main road on two of the floors.
The original living quarters, on the top floor, was the owner's residence. It consists of 1 living room (with a small terrace to the road), 3 large bedrooms facing the valley (one with a terrace) , 1 large bathroom and 2 kitchens facing the road (one of which can be adapted to a bedroom).
The basement was designed for the production of olive oil. The mill is composed of a beautiful arched ceiling and stone floor. Still on site to this day are two ancient stone mills and two wood-iron presses. These were used for pressing olives and extracting oil. This space is a great setting for a restaurant or even a brand new flat.
The intermediate floor was used to stock olives and oil, it can also be used as an office, shop or living space. On one side of the property there is also a srip of land that can be used as a garden or an orchid. The street entrance also includes an ample drive-in space or garage. The property needs refurbishing.
The view from the river side is breathtaking, you can see the woods in the surrounding valleys, a view over the park and sporting grounds (tennis court and football field). You get a picture of the entire sight of Pigna and higher up, perched on top of the left hill, is the neighbouring medieval village of Castelvittorio.
